Privacy Policy

This explains what Interstellar Software collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: as little as possible, and never your email address unless you pay us.
What we collect
When you sign in with Discord
We request the identify scope only. That gives us your Discord user ID, username and avatar. We do not request your email address, your servers, your messages, or your friends.
When you use the launcher
- Your chosen Interstellar username and display name.
- Your friends list, favourites, and pending friend requests.
- Presence — whether you are online, in the launcher or in game, and which room you are in. Visible only to friends you have accepted, and only while you have an active Pro subscription.
- Which mod versions you have installed, so updates can be offered.
- Any badges on your profile, and whether your account is an admin or a tester.
Your devices, if you subscribe
Pro features are licensed per machine, so we have to be able to tell one of your computers from another. When the launcher asks for a licence it sends a device identifier: a one-way SHA-256 hash of the installation ID Windows generates for itself, mixed with a fixed Interstellar value.
We store that hash, a short label so you can recognise the machine on your account page, and when it was first and last seen. We also keep a record of each licence issued — which account, which device, which features, and when it expires — which is what enforces the device limit and the rate limit.
The hash cannot be reversed. It tells us that two requests came from the same computer; it tells us nothing about the computer itself — not its name, its specification, its serial numbers, or who owns it. It exists to stop one subscription being shared across a Discord server, and it is used for nothing else. If you replace a computer and run out of device slots, ask us and we will release the old one.
When you subscribe
Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Your card details never reach us. Stripe collects your email address and billing address — the address is needed to work out sales tax and VAT — and holds them under its own privacy policy. We store only Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, whether it is set to cancel, and when it renews.
Technical data
Our hosting providers log ordinary request data — IP address, timestamp, and which page or API endpoint was called — as every web service does. This is used to keep the service running and to investigate abuse, and it is held under each provider's own retention policy.
This site stores your sign-in session in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. It is not a tracking cookie, it is not shared with anyone, and clearing your browser data removes it.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not run advertising or third-party trackers on this site.
- We do not read your Discord messages or record anything you say in game.
- Clips you capture stay on your own computer. We never receive them.
- We do not read files on your computer other than your Gorilla Tag installation, and we do not send its contents anywhere.
Who we share it with
Four processors, each doing one job:
- Supabase — hosts the database and handles sign-in.
- Stripe — processes payments.
- Cloudflare — serves this website and delivers the mod files.
- Discord — provides sign-in, and receives nothing from us beyond the sign-in request itself.
Other than that, we disclose data only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. You can delete it yourself from your account page: we wait 30 days before doing anything, and you can cancel at any point during them. Nothing changes while the account is waiting — it keeps working normally — and the delay exists so that a decision made in a bad moment is not irreversible.
When the 30 days are up we permanently remove your profile, friends, presence, friend requests and device registrations, and release the Discord sign-in so you could start fresh later if you wanted. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically six years; those live with Stripe under its own retention, and they are the one thing deleting your account does not erase.
If you have a subscription that is still renewing, cancel it first — otherwise Stripe would keep charging a card for an account that no longer exists. The delete button will tell you if this applies to you, and as a safeguard we will not delete an account while a subscription is still being billed: the deletion waits until it has ended, and then completes.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to object to processing, to restrict it, and to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California you have equivalent rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
Deletion is self-service: the button is on your account page, and it is the fastest route. For anything else — a copy of your data, or a correction — email us from the address or Discord account tied to your Interstellar account and tell us what you want done. We will confirm once it is finished, normally within a few days and always within one month.
Children
Interstellar is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
